Yeah yeah, I know .. my infamous disappearing acts. Real life is being a pain in the rear end, but I did find some time today to fix the userlookups.

I'll try not to disappear for long, but with Xmas coming, we're busy enough with recitals, school plays, etc, plus my family is planning on moving two provinces over in the next few months, and you can imagine what kind of preparation that takes.

I'm working on fixing the shop layouts now, and should have some ready for you by the weekend, just as soon as I go and get some more xmas shopping done. ;)

Yeah yeah, you're not supposed to be relieved and frustrated at the same time, but I am, so work with it.

I know, I know. I haven't updated in a month, I'm awful. I could give you a thousand reasons, but the most important will have to suffice:

- My son, in an attempt to crack an online mmorpg he plays installed an interesting virus on my system and I still haven't gotten around to buying my laptop.

- I'm working on a contract right now that takes priority over everything, even eating and sleeping, hence the reason I'm awake at 4am this time.

- My daughters challenge website needs revamping with the added media attention, and that would be my area of expertise.

- I need help! I can only make so many userlookups and shop layouts before I go certifiably insane. I need graphic artists with way too much time on their hands, or people with a creative streak that knows no bounds who want to make this site an interesting hobby. ;)

And now, back to work. I do have some plans for this site in the next little while, but it hinges on me figuring out one stupid little program ... or finding someone who's very good at designing flash applets. ;)

Alright, the shop layouts have been redone so they work again, and I've tested them in both shops and galleries, as well as in three browsers. We should be all good to go there.

Now to make some new ones ....

Upate: A couple of new ones have been added. I'll be making more tomorrow.

True to form, TNT is playing around with coding stipulations again. This time, they've attacked shop fronts. Apparently, direct linking, even to Neopets proprietary links, is no longer allowed, which really messes up a lot of my layouts with removing the navigational bar and using quick links. I just hope they don't decide to do this to the other sections as well. (userlookups, petlookups, etc)

Anyhow, as a result, the shop layouts need to be redone. Surprise surprise. I was expecting this, actually ... getting back into designing for Neo.

I don't expect it will take too long. The first is back up, and I should have the rest back up in a few days, tops, as well as some new ones. Sorry about this, people.

I'm not going to be near my computer today, but I wanted to clear up something before I disappear. Seems a few people were confused or concerned about my comments regarding Myspace being a facebook knockoff, so I thought I'd clarify.

Yes, myspace has been around longer, but that doesn't change the facts. Once facebook's popularity started increasing, myspace started grasping to catch up. Apparently, they couldn't do this with any degree of originality and decided to just copy facebook at every turn. The status and news feeds on the home page, for example. The induction of applications, for another. (There are many others). The problem being that myspace always copied these ideas in a half assed way, resulting in glitches and errors.

Myspace used to be the main network site. It hasn't been for a long time, and they know it. They could have possibly kept themselves afloat if they'd come up with something original, or at the very least, kept their current concepts working and glitch free, but they didn't do that. They just chose to keep taking ideas from other sources, then implementing them badly, frustrating their users into finding other, more reliable, sites.

Yes, myspace allows you to customize, and facebook doesn't. I don't necessarily find that a bad thing. It's nice to be able to check someones profile without being confronted with the worst color combinations known to mankind, and it's a relief being able to load the page in seconds without waiting for thousands of graphic images slowing down the page. *sigh* I hope facebook continues with it's no customization policy, although I wouldn't be averse to letting us choose from an array of color themes. :)

So, while my reasons for not designing for myspace remain the same (I don't go on myspace anymore, so there's zero point in designing for it), those are my reasons for WHY I don't bother with myspace. It's a bad facebook knock off, despite the fact that they were around first.

The horse and buggy was around before the car, too ... but sometimes you have to move forward and leave the outdated inventions to the past. Goodbye myspace!

Small update ... sort of. You might have noticed a games icon in the sidebar. This is there for a few reasons. One, because there are certain online games I'm highly obsessed with, and putting them here makes them easier for me to find, lol. Secondly, because it's a safe site for my kids to get to in order to play games, when speaking of my 8 year old, and thirdly, to make up for deciding not to add Myspace content.

Why am I not adding myspace content? Because I've had it with myspace, and I never go there any more, except to do online karaoke. Myspace has become a bad Facebook knockoff, and finally irritated me enough that I haven't bothered with it in months. If I don't go there, why should I be designing graphics for it?

I have other things I want to add to the 'fun stuff' section, but for now I'll just be happy to get the rest of the games up. I also have midi files for Neopets pages coming shortly, as well as a suggestion box. Stay tuned. ;)
