Welcome
Thanks for visiting Human Training, so named because of our strong belief that it's not dogs that require the majority of the training, it's human beings who do!

You may be wondering who the key characters in the header image above are. Well, those are our own furrier family members, Rufus and Max. You'll also see Zoey, a beautiful husky mix that we re-trained and re-homed, and is still considered a big part of our lives. You can't spend day in and day out with someone as gentle and sweet as Zoeygirl and not get attached. :) Zoey came to us from a family that treated her like an ornament, and had no knowledge of how to actually play or behave like your typical, average dog. But, after a year of intense training, most of which Max did all his own just playing with her, Zoey turned into a wonderfully social and happy girl. She's since been re-homed to a loving family where she immediately found her niche, making friends with their tiny little chihuaha mix. They look quite adorable together. :)
Max is a 3 year old german shepherd / husky mix that we rescued from Animal Services, and is a character all on his own. He acts like the tough guy, and pretends to be the security system, but in reality is a huge suck and my shadow. He cowers during thunder storms, is scared of his reflection (literally) and will sit and gaze adoringly at me for hours on end, never more than a foot away from me.
Rufus is an 11 month old purebred basset hound that we helped rescue from a family who had banished him to live in the garage so he wouldn't mess up their house. He is an absolute sweetheart, although acts the grump more often than not, grumbling and moaning when forced to do something he doesn't want to do. He's incredibly stubborn and has a mind all his own, but absolutely loves people, dogs, cats and anyone else who'll smile at him and give him the tiniest bit of attention.
You'll be seeing them around the site quite a bit. Consider them the mascots. :)
