Graphics Related

What resolution do you design the graphics for?

Some of the older graphics are designed based on the 800x600 resolution, but anything created recently has been designed for 1024x768. This is the resolution most commonly used, so it makes sense to design for the majority.

Are all of the graphics created by you?

Almost all, however a few were created by my daughter, and a few others by previous staff members, who designed them under the understanding that they belong to this site from that point on. If any of the graphics are from other sources, that will be clearly stated on the page containing those graphics, except for the backgrounds. While many of the backgrounds were made by me, most of them are freeware based. At some point I'll get them set up so we know which is which, but for now, they're all mixed together.

Can I put some of your graphics on my site for other people to use?

No, and I will not make any exceptions to this rule, ever. Permission will never be granted to distribute my graphics on any page other than my own.

Can I use your graphics on my homepage?

Yes, of course. These graphics are intended for you to use on whatever site you like, not just Neopets or Myspace, providing you follow the terms and conditions associated with the graphics use.

Do you take requests for graphics?

Sorry, but no. I don't have the time to make custom orders, or to make graphics based on a few requests. I make what I feel like making at the time. If you'd like to make a suggestion, that's fine, but don't be offended if I choose not to do it. However, a few of the graphics I've made were based on ideas I got from emails sent in.

Can you teach me how to make/code graphics?

I don't have time to teach anyone anything. This is why I chose to no longer do requests. The same basis applies here. You're just going to have to learn how to code on your own, and you can start with the design guide in the sidebar. As for graphics, quite honestly, this isn't something that can be taught. Yes, you can be taught how to work the programs, but as for the eye for making decent looking graphics, that's simple instinct, I can't teach you that.

Other FAQ

When was this site created?

This site in particular has been live since June 2009, but was always around in one form or another, since 2001, under different names and offering different content.

On some of the graphics I've seen credits to Unique Arts or Jadedneo. Why?

Because both of those domains were mine, once upon a time, and had large graphic websites to accompany them. I try to update all graphics to reflect the new site name, but from time to time I might miss one. Don't worry, there's no theft involved. I can't legally steal from myself.

Why did you close the other sites and open this one?

They weren't a combined action. I closed Jadedneo because it was primarily a Neopets community website, and I was bored to tears with the Neopets website and the community at large, though I still enjoy making the graphics for it. The original Jadedreality was the next project, but interfered with more important real life issues at the time. These days I have more time on my hands, and I enjoy doing what I do. The hope is that other people will give me a reason to continue doing it. :)

What programs do you use to create this site?

Okay, lets see. For the pages themselves, they are all edited and created in plain old wordpad. For uploading, FTP Wanderer by Pablo Software is by far the most basic and simplest of the FTP clients I've tried out. For graphics, I use Paint Shop Pro 8 and Animation Gallery by Jasc. I think that's pretty much it.

I saw someone using your graphics and not crediting you. What should I do?
